About PR254

History

Pyrrole (DPP) reds were introduced in the 1980s, first for car paint, and are now common in artists' oils as a cadmium-free red.

In mixes

A bright, warm red, fairly opaque for an organic pigment, and lightfast. The usual base for cadmium red hues.

Drying speed is typical for linseed oil; tubes ground in safflower or poppy oil, or with driers added, will differ. These are general notes on the pigment, not on any one brand.
